CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
As Chief Executive Officer of Australia’s largest truly independent supermarket group, Rick leads the brand’s 635 stores with 26 years of corporate business nous combined with a hands-on, straight-shooting management approach.
An accountant by profession, Rick’s strong background in finance, franchising and strategy management has helped the company secure challenger-brand status in the highly competitive supermarket industry.
Rick joined FoodWorks in the role of Chief Operating Officer in 2008. Prior to this, Rick spent 15 years at Blockbuster Australia where he worked in various roles including General Manager Development - Company & Franchise; Chief Financial Officer - Australia/Asia; and Area Senior Vice President - Australia/Asia, until taking the helm as Chief Executive Officer from 1998-2008.
Rick holds a Bachelor of Business Studies and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia.
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Kym joined Australian United Retailers Ltd in October 2015 as the Chief Operating Officer.
Kym has over 35 years of retail and wholesaling experience with BILO, Metcash and various small businesses.
He has a wealth of experience in the independent supermarket industry in a wide variety of operational and business development roles. He started his career as a butcher in Weeks’ BILO Supermarket.
Kym worked in a variety of roles in his 15 years with BILO including managing departments, supermarkets and then fresh foods in the States of South Australia and Victoria. He then joined David’s/Metcash where he held a variety of roles including Fresh Food Manager SA/NT, as well as several State, General and National Manager roles over a period of 21 Years.
During this period he has developed close working relationships with many independent store owners across the FoodWorks and IGA store networks as well as strong knowledge in supply chain and warehouse management.
Kym is now responsible for overseeing the Retail Operations and Business & Store Development teams within FoodWorks. He has undertaken extensive professional development in areas such as Business Management, Retail Accounting, Staff Development, Property and Business Valuation as well as Succession Planning, at institutions including Monash and Macquarie Universities.
NATIONAL MERCHANDISE MANAGER
Rick joined FoodWorks in September 2016. Rick is a highly skilled senior retail expert with experience in driving significant sales and profit growth of businesses between USD$100Mill to USD$1.4B T/O through market leading retail initiatives and programs, product development and branding activities.
His experience covers both convenience retailing with ExxonMobil and 7-Eleven in various markets around the globe, coupled with his recent supermarket exposure at Metcash Food & Grocery. He actively builds and fosters sustainable business relationships in the supplier and retailer communities to deliver tangible outcomes for mutual gain.
HEAD OF TECHNOLOGY
Brad has spent over 25 years in the independent grocery and liquor supermarket industry. This has included working with food and liquor wholesalers including Composite Buyers and Australian Independent Wholesalers and he currently holds the role of Head of Technology at Australian United Retailers.
Brad leads a highly skilled and dedicated Information Technology team to internally deliver IT services, Business Intelligence, data analytics and drives process automation utilising technology. Brad also specialises in retail technology solutions supporting over 400 FoodWorks branded supermarkets.
Brad manages vendor relationship and group deals which include telecommunications, electronic card payment solutions, broadband and Point of Sale vendors. Brad holds a diploma in Information Technology at Holmesglen Institute.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Tim joined FoodWorks in 2005 soon after the creation of the new FoodWorks company. Tim’s team at FoodWorks includes Network Planning, Store Design and Equipment Procurement.
Tim’s experience spans roles in both the public and private sector, with over 20-years of experience in the supermarket industry, including 9 years at Coles. Tim’s expertise spans the fields of network planning, sales forecasting, statistical modelling, industry & government advocacy, and market and demographic trends.
Quality, accuracy and thoroughness are attributes that Tim has instilled in his team so that retailers can rely on the service provided, make informed decisions and minimise investment risk.
Tim holds a bachelor degree in Town Planning from Melbourne University and a masters degree in Business (Property) from RMIT.
