INGREDIENTS

for 4 to 6 servings
500g pizza dough
1 tablespoon Extra virgin olive oil
1 garlic clove
1 onion, finely diced
1 can of diced tomatoes
10 basil leaves, sliced
1.5 cup mozzarella, grated
salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 190 C. Firstly, make sauce. In a large sauce pan heat olive oil over a medium heat, add in diced garlic, onion and capsicum and cook until onion has softened.

Stir through can of tomato and simmer, uncovered for 15 minutes, until sauce has slightly thickened. Set aside to cool. Once cool, stir through basil and season.

While cooling, make football. Roll out pizza dough and cut out two footballs shapes. Line a large baking tray with paper, and place one of the footballs on there. Spread over tomato mixture right to the edges and sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella. Place the other almond shape dough on top .

Using kitchen scissors, cut in to the sides of the football, don’t slice all the way along the football, leave the middle unsliced. Grab each pieces and twist.

Sprinkle with remaining cheese and bake in a hot oven for 15-20 minutes. Once cooled, cut extra pieces of cheese to form the stitch lines of the football.
